Poems, Flowers, Chocolates...and Literacy?

Every holiday brings more fun and unique opportunities to practice your literacy skills and Valentine’s Day is no exception. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on that special someone to say “I care”; instead, there are many simple, inexpensive ways to give on Valentine’s Day while practicing reading and writing skills. Here’s just a few:

Write a poem – even a simple haiku can sum up your feelings for someone.

Learn a new recipe and cook your honey a homemade meal.

Leave little love notes around your house or apartment that tell them how much you care.

How about learning the lyrics of a song you feel encapsulates your relationship and serenade your significant other?

Learning may not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking of romance, but with a little creativity, they can go hand-in-hand.

Have a great Valentine’s Day!
